13 Year Old (7th grade League and Babe Ruth League)
7th grade League (Based on Pony League Rules)
The 7th grade teams play games on various nights Mon through Fri beginning in June and finishing in late July. The teams have home and away games against teams in area communities, so some travel is involved. This league has a pitcher's mound set at 55' and bases set at 75'. This makes for a smaller transition for those players coming from the 46' mound and 60' bases that are used in 12 year old baseball. There are some modifications to the rules that allow for unlimited substitution (except for at the pitcher's position) and some limitations on stealing. Participation in this league is determined based on talent and numbers in the 13 year old age group.
(if not enough players/interest for pony rules baseball, 13 year olds not on a Babe Ruth team may be asked to participate on a U14 Teener B league- see U14 Division for details)
13 Babe Ruth League
The 13 Babe Ruth team plays games on Tuesdays and Saturdays beginning in late-May and finishing in early July. The teams have home and away games against teams in area communities, so some travel is involved. Babe Ruth League is generally more competitive and uses full baseball rules- 60' pitcher's mound, 90' bases and starters are the only players that can re-enter the game, so no unlimited substitutions. Players are not guaranteed equal playing time. Many Babe Ruth teams will also participate in weekend tournament play, which will result in an additional financial obligation. Players in Babe Ruth should plan on an additional $150-$300 in fees if team will be participating in tournaments.
